Welcome to Holland is a widely published and shared short essay on the experience of a family who receive a diagnosis of Down syndrome by Emily Perl Kingsley. Written in 1987, it's been inspiring parents for over 30 years.
More recently, Dana Nieder has written "Amsterdam International," a modern rebuttal to Welcome to Holland. Both essays provide hope and reassurance to new parents, written by parents who have been faced by a diagnosis of Down syndrome. |
